The 9th annual Charity Golf Event held at Windermere Golf Club on May the 19th was a rousing success!  The wind played havoc with many of the scores but early morning sweaters gave way to sunny blue skies and the rolling greenery of the fairways.  The first place winners were the foursome sponsored by RSUI and included Jarrett Long, Jeff Dunn, Paul Bontempo and Alan Robertson.  Second place went to the team from SEA Limited, Wade Wilson, Marshall Pemberton, Marty Sykes and Brian Hillman.  Third place went to the Foursome of Betsy McClain, Teresa Cates, Troy Pensa and David Stevens. 

Awards were also given to John Peterson and Paul Bentempo for Closest to the Pin.  David Stevens won the Longest Drive award. 

A delicious lunch was served in the Clubhouse once the round was complete and our special thanks to our lunch sponsor, RK Bell Consulting.

The event raised close to $6,000. for our two charities: Learning for Life and the Atlanta Chapter College Scholarship Fund.

Thanks to all of our generous and wonderful sponsors.  You have truly made a difference in the Metro Atlanta Community!

The Chapter would also like to thank this year's Event Chair, Rodney Wilson, for his many hours of work and dedication to make the event a huge success and just a complete day of fun for all!

Congratulations to Mr. Chris A. Eells for being promoted to Resident Senior Vice President with Utica National Insurance Group! 

Mr. Eells joined Utica National in 1981 as a Marketing Representative in the New England Regional Office. He was promoted to Director of Sales in Utica National's Risk Management Corporation in 1987 and to Resident Vice President at the company’s Southeastern Regional Office in 1994. 
He earned a bachelor’s degree in 1977 from St. Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire, and holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter CPCU), Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), Senior Claims Law Associate (SCLA), Associate in Risk Management (ARM) and (AIC) Associate in Claims professional designations. 
   

Mr. Eells is a member of the education committee, and serves as an instructor for the Professional Insurance Agents (PIA) of Georgia and the CPCU Society of Georgia.

We recently received correspondence from the Society that the Atlanta Chapter has qualified for the CPD Excellence Award! This award recognizes the CPCU Chapters with at least 20 percent of their active membership (or 50 members if less than 20 percent) qualified for CPD  recognition. The award is based on the number of CPD qualified members in our chapter as of June 1, 2008.

Society Spotlights Champion at Crawford & Company
Bob Stevens, CPCU, is assistant vice president of Operational Compliance and a CPCU Society Champion at Crawford & Company. With the active support of CEO Jeffrey Bowman, Stevens is championing greater enrollment in the CPCU program, expanded internal mentoring of Crawford employees pursuing the CPCU designation, added Champions throughout the Crawford organization, and is pursuing new avenues of company support for professional development.
